WTO Director-General selection process

General Council chairperson Bruce Gosper informed WTO members on 4 November 2008 that Director-General Pascal Lamy has announced he will seek a second term in office when his current term expires in 2009. Pascal Lamy began his four-year term on 1 September 2005, having been formally selected as the WTO's fifth Director-General in May 2005.
